Did you know that flying snakes can swim in the air? JK! They look like they’re swimming, but they’re actually gliding. The reason it looks like they’re swimming is because they move their bodies side-to-side to control the way they’re going, which is called undulating. They “take off” by curving their bodies into a J-shape and swinging themselves off trees or high spots. They are fully arboreal, which means they spend most of their lives in trees and are really good at climbing. They also happen to be the only known vertebrates without limbs to be able to travel through the air. Hope they don’t land on you!
